Fundraise to help create a fairer future

Fundraising is a fun and easy way to raise money, and spread the word about how to fix poverty in New Zealand.

So we can best support you, please contact us prior to your fundraiser with details of your event. We will provide you an approval letter and let you know our fundraising policies.

Once your event has finished:

  • Deposit the funds raised into our bank account. We will provide details.

  • Remember to take photos of your fundraiser and tag us on social media with #cpagnz.

  • Thank your generous supporters!

Whether you’d like to fundraise at school, work, or in the community, here are a few ideas:

Organise an event

  • Hold a sporting event. The options here vary from a casual fun run, to a triathlon, a golf tournament, or a tennis match!

  • Get your community together for a quiz night or a dinner party. Sell entry tickets while also including an auction or a raffle to raise extra funds.

  • Arrange a workplace or school charity day - dress up for the occasion or wear a crazy hair do. Ask for a gold coin donation from participants.

  • If you are skilled in yoga, art or a sport that you can share with others, hold classes and let students know the proceeds will be donated to CPAG.

  • Hold Christmas in July: ask attendees to donate to help push for policy changes so children have what they need when it’s Christmas in December.

Donate your celebration

  • Ask the guests at your birthday, wedding, or other special occasion to donate in lieu of a gift.

  • Create a birthday fundraiser on Facebook and select Child Poverty Action Group (NZ) as the recipient.

Step out of your comfort zone

  • Give up something you love for a month – ask your friends and family to sponsor you while you pledge to live without an item or service. It helps if it’s something you will really miss!

  • Complete a challenge like a marathon, a mud run, or a mountain climb.

Spread the word

  • Share links to our donation page or an online fundraiser through your social media channels. Remember to tell people why donating to us is important to you!

  • Use your favourite holiday season to encourage people to donate.

  • Nominate us when organisations or individuals ask for your favourite charity to donate to.

  • Consider if you need to set up an online fundraising page like Givealittle. These pages can be easily shared via email and social media to reach a wider pool of people to support you.
