We would love for our supporters and members to join us on Wednesday 25 July for:

CPAG's 2018 Annual General Meeting (6.30pm)

Are you a current member of CPAG and passionate about the well-being of New Zealand children? Would you like to play a bigger part in CPAG's work?

Nominations are currently open for the 2018-2019 CPAG Management Committee to be appointed at the AGM and will close on the 18 July. This eleven member, Auckland based team is responsible for the strategic direction, governance and management of the organisation. See more information about how to apply.

The AGM will be followed by a presentation by CPAG’s guest speaker, Len Cook, former Families Commissioner and Government Statistician.

Guest Speaker: Len Cook (7.30pm)

Title: Poverty indicators - Insights, limits and opportunities

How can we keep up the pressure on Government to ensure it delivers real outcomes for children in poverty with its new Child Poverty Reduction Bill? The new Bill places considerable emphasis on defining the measures by which Ministers will be held accountable for reducing child poverty.

Hear from Len Cook about how we can ensure this and future governments will maintain a commitment to making Aotearoa-New Zealand a better place for low-income families raising children. Len’s commentary will include a discussion of the limits to performance indicators when framing and directing government actions in the context of the levers planned to prevent and reduce poverty.

Len Cook was New Zealand’s Government Statistician from 1992 to 2000, and the UK’s National Statistician from 2000 to 2005. He was a member of the Royal Commission on Social Policy in 1987-88. He was chair of the board of Superu, and is a member of the Remuneration Authority. Len's prime interests include public administration, population change and public policy, official statistics and the place of science in policy. He regularly works with official statisticians in the Pacific. He was Families Commissioner from 2015 until 2018
