Janfrie Wakim M.Sc.(Hons), Dip.Ed. (Couns) is a CPAG founding member and was CPAG Convenor for many years, currently serving on the Management Committee and the Research Committee. A partner in family pharmacy business for 38 years, she was appointed to serve on Pharmac’s Consumer Advisory Committee in 2020.
Her background is in teaching at tertiary and secondary levels completing her career with Hikitia te Ora, a foundation health sciences programme for Māori and Pasifika students. She has a commitment to a constitutional transformation that honours Te Tiriti, informed by her understandings of Te Ao Māori, to combat institutional racism and the impact of colonisation on tangata whenua. Her research interests include incomes policies affecting children, early childhood education and secondary school policies that enhance the wellbeing and educational outcomes of all children
