Recommendations to reduce child poverty in NZ long term
Provide affordable, accessible and healthy housing for all low income New Zealanders.
Provide free health care for all children under 18 - day and night, seven days a week.
Provide genuinely free, quality public education for all – no school fees.
Legislate a realistic minimum wage for raising a family today, starting with an initial increase to $15 an hour, and index family assistance payments to wage rates, as opposed to just inflation. This is already in place for NZ Superannuation.
