Park Up: Hamilton
WE ARE FAMILY: our families are parking up for those without homes. Will you join us?
As winter has arrived, so has a growing public consciousness that housing has reached crisis point and many in our communities are without homes. We believe that everyone deserves a home: not a car, not a garage, a home.
WHEN: On 23/07/16, from 5pm to 7am, we invite you to join our families and park up in our cars in Hamilton (see locations - there are two!) for the night to show solidarity with the families who have to do it every night. We want to rev up and signal to our policy makers that we care.
Bring your kids, bring your aunty, bring your blanky: This will be a safe, alcohol free, FAMILY FRIENDLY peaceful protest with music, sausage sizzles and speakers. Public toilets available.
LOCATION: Fairfield Park Car Park, Clarkin Road, Fairfield, Hamilton (AND ALSO AT) The Fairfield Community Centre Car Park (Te Whare o Te Ata) Sare Crescent, Fairfield, Hamilton.
In partnership with the Child Poverty Action Group. www.cpag.org.nz, and Fairfield Enderly Resilience Network (FERN).
Funds raised through this event will go to Monte Cecilia Housing Trust, a South Auckland-based organisation that offers a range of housing services to support low-income families.

Park Up For Homes in Hamilton and Napier on July 23
In the height of winter, as wind lashes and rain pours, the #ParkUpForHomes movement is going to extra lengths to show that it is not tolerable for whānau to be braving this kind of weather without adequate housing to keep them safe and warm. Stoic supporters will be parking up overnight in Hamilton and Napier this coming Saturday, July 23 to show solidarity with those for whom living this way has become an appalling reality.
