She has a been involved in social research for the past five or so years, working in large scale research projects such as the Starpath Project for Tertiary Participation and Success at the University of Auckland and The Pacific Islands Families Study at AUT.

Child Poverty Action Group is an independent charity working to eliminate child poverty in New Zealand. CPAG works on behalf of the 230,000 New Zealand children whose well-being and future is compromised by their meagre standard of living.

The results of this research show a frightening picture for too many children in Whangarei. In a country that has long been a major food producer it is scandalous that so many report going without food in order to make ends meet. The fact that this is the experience of so many New Zealand children makes the scandal even worse.
