Dr Louise Humpage
Senior Lecturer in the Department of Sociology, Faculty of Arts, University of Auckland.
Louise’s latest research explores public support for social citizenship (the idea that we have rights to a basic level of economic and social security) and how this has changed since neoliberal policies were introduced from the 1980s.
She has also written about welfare reform, Maori affairs policy and refugee policy and settlement. She co-authored a contribution to Left further Behind: how policies fail the poorest children in New Zealand (2011)
Louise is also engaged in teaching students about the social issues that matter, through courses focused on social policy, social justice, the welfare state and citizenship.
